What are Injectable Fillers?

Injectable fillers are FDA-approved for treating facial wrinkles and folds, especially those around the nose and mouth. These nonsurgical treatments instantly smooth away lines and can last up to one year. They add volume to facial tissue and provide a smoother appearance.

Hyaluronic Acid injections, such as Juvederm are a safe and non-surgical way to fill out facial lines and creases. Hyaluronic acid is found in almost every single living thing and is very compatible with the human body. They help support and cushion facial tissues that may have lost elasticity and/or volume over time.

Injectable facial fillers may be used for treating wrinkles and creases in areas around the:

  • nose
  • mouth
  • jawline
  • cheekbones
  • junction of the lower eyelids and cheek
  • Treatments:

    Injectable filler treatments are minimally invasive. They are performed in our office and typically completed with in half of an hour. Topical anesthetic can be applied before the treatment begins for enhanced comfort if the patients chooses to do so.

    The Doctor will discuss the progress with you throughout the treatment to help ensure the desired look. Since most results are immediate, you'll notice a difference before walking out of the office.

    Results:

    Injectable fillers offer natural looking results that can almost instantly lift and smooth away wrinkles or deep lines. Many patients only need one treatment to achieve optimal smoothing. regular maintenance visit is recommended for avoiding volume loss and avoiding excessive expense when multiple syringes may be needed to correct areas of long term volume loss.

    duration of treatments are dependent upon aging, weight loss, and or illnesses that may affect facial volume. Each product and its duration can be discussed with your provider.

    Patients undergoing treatment with injectable fillers will can also add in Botox injections. Botox injections work to relax the underlying muscles in the face and prevent new lines from forming. Combining fillers and Botox injections can help you achieve smoother, younger and longer lasting results.

    Patients may need more than 1 treatment depending on their age and areas of treatment.

    JUVÉDERM contains hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural substance in the body that gives the skin volume and fullness. This versatile filler is used for fine lines, deeper facial folds, and the lips. Results last up to 1 year.

    JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is an HA filler that restores volume to the entire cheek area for a natural-looking lift of the mid-face. It contains lidocaine for enhanced comfort during treatments. Results can last up to 2 years.

    JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC injectable gel is for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss and for augmentation of the chin region to improve the chin profile in adults over 21.

    JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC injectable gels are for injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC injectable gel is for adults over 21.

    JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC injectable gel is also for injection into the lips and perioral area for lip augmentation in adults over 21.

    Recovery or Side-Effects:

    Injectable fillers are minimally invasive and you will mostly likely be able to resume your normal daily routine without missing a step. Sometimes it's not uncommon for patients to experience some minor redness, swelling or tenderness around the injection site. Most effects are mild and should subside within a week or less.
